Test day

General preparation

  • • Please note that you will not be allowed to take the test, if you do not bring both “an identification photograph (on an admission tickets)” and “an (valid) official identification card with a photograph” to the test center.
  • • If you do not have any of the following official identification cards with a photograph such as passport, driver license*, student ID card*, employee ID card*, and Basic Resident Register Card*, please make sure to contact the Institute for International Business Communication before the test date.
  • * Identification cards with “*” are acceptable only if they are issued in Japan.

Requirements for Acceptable identification photograph

Please prepare an acceptable identification photograph that meets all of the following requirements.
(Both a color photograph and black-and-white photograph are acceptable.)
An Official Score Certificate will carry an acceptable identification photograph in
black-and-white.

4cm in height/3cm in width

  • *A photograph that does not meet any of the above requirements, copy of a photograph, print club sticker, and ordinary paper or copier paper carrying a printed image are not acceptable.

If your identification photograph does not meet any of the requirements, your identification photograph may not be printed on an Official Score Certificate or you may not be allowed to take the test.

Your Official Score Certificate will not carry your identification photograph, if the institute decides that the photograph does not meet the requirements after test administration.
Please note that a line or shadow may appear on your identification photograph on the Official Score Certificate, if your identification photograph is in the following conditions.

The examinee is wearing sunglasses, closes his eyes, or does not look straight.

A photograph is a group photograph or it shows more than one person (some part of another person).

There is an object or shadow in the background. (A curtain, blind or patterned wall is shown in the background.)

There is a deep color in the background (e.g. black, navy blue, dark grey, red).

  • *Such photograph is not acceptable, because a deep background color will turn black when it is printed on an Official Score Certificate, thus does not show the person clearly.

A photograph is a group photograph or it shows more than one person (some part of another person).

There is an object or shadow in the background.(A curtain, blind or patterned wall is shown in the background.)

There is a deep color in the background (e.g. black, navy blue, dark grey, red).

 

Photographs that do not meet requirements for size. (Example)

Ex, Size is not acceptable.

  • • A photograph is patched using tape or glue to meet the requirements for size.
  • • A 4cm×3cm photograph includes cardboard in a color different from that in the background, graduated cardboard, or border.

A photograph has a problem with paper quality. (Example)

  • • A photograph is printed on an ordinary paper or copier paper.
  • • A copied photograph or print club sticker is used.
  • • Although the photograph is printed on a digital camera paper, the image is blurred or the paper is too thin to be distinguished from an ordinary paper
